Isla is a playwright and lyricist whose work has been produced over the last three years in Edinburgh (Underbelly), London (The Other Palace, VAULT Festival, RADA, The White Bear, Camden People's Theatre, JW3, Above The Arts) and New York (59E59 Theaters).
She gives talks and workshops across the UK to students and parents on PSHE/RSE topics. For more information click here.
To date she has written ten plays, the book and lyrics for a new musical which received its preview at VAULT Festival 2018., and has been commissioned by Carbon Theatre to write a multi-sensory play for young audiences which will be touring the UK in Spring 2020. For previous work click here.
Isla studied an MA in Text and Performance (Playwriting pathway) at RADA in 2014 – 2015.
Her plays have been longlisted and shortlisted for numerous playwriting awards and competitions including: Papatango Playwriting Award (two years running), The Verity Bargate Award, The Channel 4 ‘4Stories’ Award, Heretic Voices Competition and The Bruntwood Prize. In 2017 & 2018 Isla was also a recipient of the Peggy Ramsay Foundation Bursary.
She co-founded theatre company Shrapnel Theatre Ltd and served as artistic director until June 2016
She currently has a number of projects in development: a new musical, a solo drag show, a one-woman play, and a play for young audiences.
